FAQs

Accessibility and Parking

It's important to note that accessing the cottage may be challenging for individuals with limited mobility, as there is a fairly steep incline leading to the property. Additionally, the layout of the cottage is not wheelchair-accessible.

Verbena is located on Gibraltar Terrace, which doesn’t permit cars. The cottage is approx 50 metres from the road. We stop on the corner to unload and then park in the village car park, which is a 7-minute walk from the cottage and costs around £30 for the week. Alternatively, there is a layby on Church Hill just above the cottage where you can park (if it's free!)

Taxi

St Austell Taxis are great and can be booked online

For water taxis we recommend A2B Water Taxi and August Rock who offer a ferry service.

Train Station

St Austell and Truro are equidistant from the cottage (around 40 mins), and local taxis can be booked to and from the cottage for around £40

Babysitting

Ingrid is fantastic, but needs notice - 07794 95071.

Groceries

The local Coop is pretty well stocked and is great for basics. St Mawes Butchery (the butcher) and St Mawes Seafood (fish stall on the quay) are both fantastic. For special treats Mr Scorse's deli is packed full of delicious things. The Curgurrell Farm Shop is a 10-minute drive from St Mawes and is definitely worth a visit. For those needing a wider selection, the Waitrose in Truro is huge and shares a home with the Great Cornish Food Store which is a treasure trove of yummy local produce!
